Birth Services:
Homebirth
Midwifery service for homebirth includes: Free interview appointment, guidance and education throughout our time working together, prenatal visits, attending your birth, postpartum visits, phone consultations, referral and consultation when needed.
I usually have an assistant who will attend the home visit at 36 weeks and the birth. An apprentice may also be present.
VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean)
I support mothers choosing VBAC. Women’s bodies are made to birth, are capable of healing after surgery. Babies know how to be born. Constraining birth to narrow medical parameters often results in problems. Each mother/baby unit will find their own way to birth if allowed to. Nature is much wiser and more creative than we are. We can learn from her how to flow in harmony with her cycles and processes.
I offer education and attend VBAC births.
Waterbirth
Water- the main element associated with birth. Women benefit from interacting with water every day during pregnancy, especially wild water, such as a stream or pond. During birth, being immersed in a deep tub where the water can cover your belly changes the feel of the contractions and is deeply relaxing which enhances natural labor.
I am experienced with waterbirth.
Postpartum Home Care
The "babymoon" is a special and sensitive time for the new family deserving of the same individualized support as the pregnancy and birth. I provide home visits to facilitate mother's postpartum healing, help with breastfeeding, learning to care for the baby.
Support for Unassisted Pregnancy and Childbirth/Freebirth
I believe parents have the ability to birth without midwives. I support them in educating themselves and taking responsibility for their birth experience. UC parents may be the only folks experiencing uninterfered with, truly natural childbirth. Midwives have much to learn from them.
I offer education and individual support.
